Album Notes

Warpold Wine is the pen name of guitarist and songwriter Andrew Lipow. As a child, much of Andrew's time was spent sitting by the piano, while his older brother, Jon, the family talent, picked out songs by ear on the piano. Andrew soon joined in, banging on the keys just out of Jon’s reach, naturally forming simple melodies with his older brother. At the age of 7, Andrew started to play the drums, and by the age of 11, he was playing the saxophone in his school's band. When Andrew reached the age of 14, he taught himself to play the guitar, honed his skills on piano and formed a number of rock and jazz bands in high school. He then took up songwriting to impress a girl he liked.
For the past year, Andrew Lipow has spent his time living in the Netherlands, where he managed to connect with musicians from all around the world, tour Holland and Germany, and record a full length LP of original music. The broadly appealing tone of Warpold Wine’s debut album ranges from alt-blues rock to melodic balladry.

I just thought I'd leave a review because this cd is amazing, I can't listen to it enough. I love track 8 A Few More Matchsticks it almost brings me to tears every time, but actually I love the whole album and Lights Down is so good, too. My boyfriend and I sometimes listen to it during.....you know. :) It's hard to find a full album that's great all the way through for THAT. haha ok I think that's enough about that! I just love the music.

This Album Is Amazing!!!

I'm serious....this is one of the best vocal album i've heard in years. I mean..damn! It's like a mix of Jason Mraz and Sondre Lerche, with all originals. Pick any track and more then likely you will love it. Once among the trees, Last Year's Landlord and Doris Day should be all in the next big movie soundtrack. I can't stress this enough. It's completely amazing and for a while I was speechless.... The arrangements are carefully written out, and so are the lyrics. I'll go ahead and say this is one of the best albums for 2010, and as I write this...it's a cold say in the city on December 2009!! It really is that good...

Warpold Wine has done it. Songwriting is an art again. In a time where people try way too hard to create "complex"music, Warpold Wine just lets his art flow creating simple, thought provoking music. It really is a breath of fresh air in a musical world filled with smog.
