17 SONGS, 14 WOMEN, 1 GREAT CAUSE
The CD BEAUTIFUL, was released in July 2007 by independent record label Red Coyote Records, which is owned by Joan Enguita. The CD differs from typical compilation CDs in that every song was professionally produced by the same studio, Nashville Tracks in Los Angeles. The instrument tracks were recorded by seasoned Nashville session musicians who perform and record with well known artists. It also features live strings and horns on some tracks. Musical arrangements and mixing are by Travis Allen at Nashville Tracks in L.A.
The CD features performances by fourteen independent female artist known collectively as WOMEN ON THE MOVE. They are listed individually with their web links on the bottom left of this page. Songs are in a variety of styles (pop, rock, blues, country,) and encompass various aspects of being a woman: following your dreams, love, breaking up, and leaving an abusive relationship.
All of the artists have released CDs or are in the recording process. Julie Gribble has been getting national attention after two appearances on the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Anna Montgomery toured with and opened for Shelby Lynne and recently released her own second CD. She and Teresa James, Kelly Zirbes, Debbie Hennessey, Evonne Rivera and Tracy Newman all perform in the Los Angeles area with their own band or group.
Harriet Schock is a Los Angeles icon, having recently scored several Henry Jaglom movies, has released six CDs, and teaches songwriting. She was Grammy nominated for the Helen Reddy mega hit, "That Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady." She is a regular panelist on songwriting topics at conferences and performs regularly with her band.
Karen Hart has been heard for years in TV and film. She was the singing voice of Sigourney Weaver in the film Snow White. She has won numerous songwriting awards including the Barry Manilow award for lyrics and the USA Songwriting Competition.
Singer songwriters Joan Enguita, Linda Geleris, Andrea Ross-Greene, Trish Lester and Holly Jurgensen perform regularly in the Southern California area. Enguita has toured the U.S. West Coast and has performed in Europe as well. She hosts a quarterly showcase, Indie Diva Night, at Kulak’s Woodshed in North Hollywood and also hosts a house concert series in Lancaster, CA.
The CD project is co-sponsored by Nashville Tracks in L.A.

Executive Producer's Note:
It has been a pleasure working with the many talented people involved in bringing this CD to life from the fine songwriters, the musicians, and the artists, to Pete Doell at Universal Mastering, and Travis Allen our music producer. Everyone I approached about this project was very anxious to be a part of it. Some said, "It's about time more focus was brought to this issue." While the CD is raising funds for an important purpose, we wanted the music to cover a variety of topics and to be a fun experience. We didn't want every song about leaving abuse. From Chocolate, to a song about plastic surgery (Diane Wants a Man), to the bluesy and fun Come to This and the folky How Do We Go On, there is something for everyone. We sell equally to men and women. Thanks for checking out our CD. Hear my interview on www.womensradio.com - link is to the left! ---Joan Enguita
