Album Notes

Twelve more tracks of world-beat-influenced pop-rock from Aaron English. Featuring many of the same key personnel that performed on "All the Waters of This World", "Marriage..." was co-produced by Aaron English and long-time collaborator Don Gunn.

Seattle-based Aaron English is a singer-songwriter, yes. But there is nothing 'singer-songwriter', in the quaint coffeehouse open-mike sense of the term anyway, about his sophisticated, world-beat-influenced sound. These songs are big songs: driven by Aaron's vivid lyrics and deft piano work, but spilling over onto vast canvasses of sound, incorporating arena-rock and jazz-rock stylings, electronics, and traditional musics from around the world into his recordings and live shows.

"...a talented new artist in a class with other stylistically challenging singer-songwriters such as Peter Gabriel, Joseph Arthur and Perry Blake... potent lyricism, eloquence, and beautiful sublime melodies that reach much deeper than simple pop songs..."
- Mark Newman, Progression Magazine

This is a classic CD. Each song is beautiful little journey into the world of Aaron English. From the hook filled pulse of "Thin Ice", through the depth and heights of "Lovers in the Red Sky", to the smile-generating "God bless you and your man". Just great songs, great musicianship. Also a "classic" cover of "Message in a bottle" that shouldn't be missed!!!

"All the waters...", Aaron's first was really good, but "Marriage..." is even better, more consistant throughout and lots of good hooks. Get this cd!

I thought it was going to be hard, no, impossible to top the first cd, but Aaron managed to do it! This one still has the alot of the same roots as the first, but leans more toward the rock side now and it is a happy evolution. There is definitly no quality diference between a major label release and this jem out of Seattle, except maybe that it is not over glossed and phoney, but personal and engageing. It still surprises me that we are not hearing Aaron English on every radio station, everyday.
