Album Notes

Since I began playing music I’ve enjoyed reinterpreting Christmas songs. Here are seven. They were recorded in living rooms with limited equipment and time, and virtually no money. We often had to wait for the lady above to quit walking on her squeaky floors before hitting the record button. But I hope knowing this makes the music more endearing. I was blessed to have my friends Tim and Ben accompany me with their good humor and talent. And Chris was very kind to lend a hand with the mastering. I plan to continue doing this over the years to come, including more songs and more friends. Please enjoy these as a gift.

Merry Christmas,

Aaron

REVIEWS

author: Peters at CD Baby
Imagine if John Mayer, Damien Rice, and Chris Martin spent a festive evening drinking eggnog and mulled wine and started jamming out their favorite festive standards, it'd probably end up sounding like this album. With simple arrangements and lovely production, Aaron Espe has created an exquisite mini album of traditional Chistmas songs. Little touches like the glockenspiel, shaker, and finger snaps, both compliment Espe's delicate vocals and add to the overall intimate vibe of the album. The standout track is definitely "Silent Night", which takes on a slightly Brit rock feel while Espe twists the melody just enough to make you keep your ears perked up.

Perfect for the holidays
author:
These Christmas songs are perfect for the holiday season. They are warm and put you in the mood to drink hot chocolate, sit in front of the Christmas tree and spend time with family. They are raw and simple but not unrefined. There is something pure and beautiful about them. Aaron Espe's talent and voice lend themselves to appropriate, creative and interesting uses of these classic songs. They'll get heavy rotation in our house this year. We love them!
