Album Notes

Aaron Parrett has been playing music around the country for almost 20 years and has released 4 CDs of original songs. Perhaps better known as a novelist and creative writing professor at the University of Great Falls, Aaron's songwriting has been compared to that of Townes Van Zandt and Jerry Jeff Walker, with story-telling lyrics that span small town life in Montana, transient love on the road, train-robbing bandits of old Mexico, and all points in between.

Dobro player Ivan Rosenberg has released 4 acclaimed solo CDs and toured with IBMA Award winner Chris Jones, Mighty Squirrel, Chris Stuart & Backcountry, and Iron Lasso among others. His original music has appeared in over 150 TV and film scores, and he is nominated for the 2009 International Bluegrass Music Association's "Song of the Year" Award. Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine recognized Ivan as "one of the more prolific masters of the resonator guitar" and Donald Nitchie of Banjo Newsletter said that his "Clawhammer and Dobro" CD was one of the best instrumental albums of the year.

Both Aaron and Ivan got their music careers started during the '90s in Missoula, Montana, and over the years they worked up a unique duet act of bluegrass-influenced Americana music with guitar, Dobro accompaniment, and no-frills lead vocals and harmonies. They have individually contributed music to High Plains Films (based in Missoula), including their Emmy-nominated documentary "Libby, Montana." But despite their deep repertoire of songs, they never recorded together until this year, when they collaborated on "Stumbo Lost Wages," a duet album that presents 11 of Aaron's best original songs.
