Aaron Kerr is a cello-playing monster who gets up first in his house everyday to ensure that he gets time with his instrument. After recording "Arco 71," he signed to Emperor Penguin Records, and then was chosen as the 2006 recipient of the McKnight Foundation Fellowship. He currently resides in St. Paul, Minnesota, but is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He is a graduate of Loyola University, and came to the Twin Cities to be a part of the rich and eclectic music scene thriving there. He is or has been a member of many alt/rock/experimental groups--most notably Swallows, The Sleeper Pins, Dissonant Creatures, Thinland, JazZen, Stew, Anahada Nada, and Semiconductor Orchestra. He has also been a session player on several local and national acts' recordings--most notably Bob Nordquist, Mellow Drunk, and the Urban Hillbilly Quartet. Aaron has received a grant from the American Composers Forum, a residency through the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's CONNECT program, and has been commissioned to compose and arrange music for Theater Mu and Decadance Productions.
