Carousel is an autobiographical collection of vignettes inspired by a young woman’s journey through the labyrinth of love; a cohesive collage of moments-turned-memories that have been seamlessly woven throughout the past, present and future, conveyed with melodies. The album was written in its entirety in a small apartment in Brooklyn, New York, with nothing more than love, a voice and a piano as guides. The music created there was transformed from dream to reality at Casa Nova Studios. Welcome to Carousel.
Anna Ayers was born and raised in the rural town of New Hampton, Iowa. At the age of 18 she was presented with an opportunity to study at Sir Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and subsequently moved to Liverpool, England. Shortly after attaining her degree, she returned to the United States in order to sign with Fifi Oscard Talent Agency in New York City. After a brief stint in the theatre world, she realized that her true passion lay within another realm. Compelled by an unrelenting desire to pursue her calling, she purchased her first piano—an old Baldwin Acrosonic—in the winter of 2006 and began writing music. After years of hard work and self-exploration, she brought her compositions to Casa Nova Studios in the autumn of 2008. With the fine production skills of The Brooklyn Sheiks—string arranger Nick Rosenthal and engineer/mixer Tommy Mokas—these compositions were brought to life. Carousel is Anna’s debut album.

Anna has a voice that stops you in your tracks. The songs and production suggest an ethos of creativity unconcerned with whatever is currently in vogue musically, but with what's true and timeless.
