notes

Tribal Bellydance is a CD that explores the boundaries of fusion bellydance, ATS,bellywood and oriental improvisation.

This CD also includes the BellyHop classic "The indigo factor".

Mostly authentic oriental and arabic instruments were used such as duduk (or tuduk), kaval, nay, oud, bendir, doumbek, rababa, mizmar, surnai, gasba, dombra (Kazachstani saz) and yu-qin (or Chinese moon guitar).

This CD includes "Hatshepsut part 2" or "Jour-ney". The second part of the Hatshepsut suite. The music reflects the voyage on the waves of the Red sea and uses sitrum, a pharaonic instrument used on religious occasions.

"Raqs al Saif", Arabic for Sword dance, features an itching Zurna on a Karatchi beat.

"Qamar al Kahira" or Moon of Cairo is recorded on a moonlit night in Caïro - hence the name. This Shifte Telli fits a sensual veil dance or sword dance.
Devre Hindi, a piece in 7/8 - bellydance isolations.

"Naylate" is inspired by the North African Ouled Nayl tribe.

"Sind on the raqs" a bellywood track, composed on a Indian beat played by Krishna, but with a typical bellydance riff: Tribal Bollywood or bellywood?

"Chalinova" bellydance fusion of an Adeni, a Bedouin Dance rhythm of the region of Aden (Yemen), and bossa-nova guitar.

Abdel Hazim composed tracks for oriental and fusion dancers who are into Experimental, Ambient and New Age Belly dance or belly breaks and isolations while "Al Kholoud" or eternity is more lounge.

Some tracks are more Rachel Brice style, some tracks Fat Chance Belly Dance or bellydance fusion a.k.a. Tribal fusion, some say lounge. The Zjora piece - with Zahdee from Algeria-Morrocco on oud - featured a mangouchi beat, a Tribal Ouled Nail rhythm, spiced up with oud and reggae bass.
