Dream Theme
author: Rich Eisenberg
Abe Silverman's album "Dream Theme" is truly a dream come true for anyone who chances to listen to it. It spans a wide range of material, from inspired originals to new interpretations of some classic standards. The execution and quality are near perfect throughout and the solos are also well inspired. This is an album that is enjoyable through and through and well worth having to hear over and over.

"A terrific release by the Abe Silverman Big Band."
author: ALL ABOUT JAZZ - George Harris
"Anyone who's a fan of The Complete Atomic Basie recording or the editions of the Woody Herman and Stan Kenton bands will have a fun ride with DREAM THEME, a terrific release by the Abe Silverman Big Band...
DREAM THEME features some very creative arranging and solosits with formidable chops...creating musical sparks on the samba classic,"A Day in the LIfe of a Fool" and..."Warm Bossa"...The Kentonesque treatment of "Angel Eyes"...is quite thrilling. There is some choice woody clarinet work from the leader on Duke Ellington's "In a Sentimental Mood" as well as...alto from Silverman for the struttin' "Natural Blues". Silverman's arrangements are quite well conceived...The title piece features some adventurous and tricky section work, Shaich's full bodied bass weaving in and out of the spotlight. The upbeat version of Jobim's "How Insensitive" was a stroke of genius with Silverman's moaning alto and Miranda's baritone saxophone creating a perfect hand in glove fit. Big band music is definitely hitting renaissance, and Sivlerman's band is keeping the momentum going."
