Album Notes

According to Abi, this is her "coming of age" album, and I would say that her assessment is pretty accurate. Despite the fact that she's still playing coffee shops around the area, Heroically Lost, Heroically Found sounds every bit the "real" album that could be put out by a more established folk artist. Regardless, the album was unquestionably an ambitious undertaking - according to Abi, she composed and arranged it to follow Joseph Campbell's monomyth (don't worry, I had to look it up as well - here you go). Despite the potentially quasi-pretentious overtones, it is actually a very personal album, and largely chronicles Abi's range of experiences when moving from Olympia to Seattle. The songs that reflect the loneliness she felt when leaving her friends and moving to Seattle are my favorites on the album - specifically "Hearts Try Their Wings" and "The The Fox and The Hunt." However, her more hopeful songs, like "Loft in Seattle," seem to be the more accessible and catchy ones on the album. -S. Lewis recommends, Earcandybeat.com

Abi has a strong voice, and a strong sense of self that is strongly voiced in this album. Her combination of real world situations with fantastical imagery allows the listener to get truly lost in the music. Anyone can relate to the music, and is a good sing along in traffic album :)
