Album Notes

A Boy Named Sue appeared in 2003, after changing his name from Smith&Wesson and Me.
The band is basically a solo-project formed in 2002 by Stig Sandbakk, a former rock-singer whom as a teenager played in a group with 70s progressive rock influences.
The project soon emerged into a band-concept, as some very talented musicians couldn´t keep their hands off Sandbakks compositions, which with mostly acoustic instrumentation mixed with electronic sounds describe the darkness of daily life and the weird ways of the human mind.

An abundance of musical cultures has inspired A Boy Named Sue, although the name suggests a leaning towards country music,
a variety of musical directions inspires the compositions, and you may find elements of british folk, traditional norwegian music, 70s rock, classical music, electronic music as well as american folk and americana.

In collaboration with his band, A Boy Named Sue released a self-produced EP in August 2004, containing 6 beautiful songs which were very well recieved by the critics and the public.
Melody and song craft are the primary colors, performed with a stunning voice, amidst tasteful acoustic instrumentation and atmospheric electronics.

Now you may wonder, although musically this band may leave you with a peaceful impression, does A Boy Named Sue have a little bit of devil in them? Sure!
