Album Notes

Abreaction is an unsigned solo act from Chicago packed with heartfelt lyrics and melodic rhythms. The name stems from a psychological term meaning, "the purging or release of repressed emotions."

Arpan Shah, the sole member, first picked up a guitar in the summer of 1994 to join a band with his high school friends. Creative differences put a mutual end to the band, but Arpan continued to write music inspired by relationships, the search for truth, and experiences that later defined his identity. Arpan has recorded three albums under the name Abreaction.

The first two were recorded with just a voice and acoustic guitar but on the third album, Arpan aimed for a more diversified sound by using other instruments including the electric guitar, bass, and even some drums.

The third album entitled Beyond These Clouds is conceptual in the sense that each song corresponds to a paragraph and can be read from beginning to end as a story. The album chronicles the struggles of a man battling through a choice he has to make, its twist in the middle, and its reflective end.
