A dense maelstrom of ponderous ambiance, distorted rhythms and crushing noise. Atonal drifting sounds, overhead 747s, and all the things urban nightmares are made of. Truly the sound of alienation and paranoia.

Album Notes

Acclimate is an intensely visceral aural experience that does exactly as its name implies-- it introduces the listener to new sounds and noises and bends the boundaries of conventional music and countless genres into a collage unlike any other-- forcing the listener to re-evaluate his senses and perception of the norm and then adapt to the strange and alien atmosphere around him.

The new "Miscreant" cd is a collection of both old and new Acclimate works, and also features Japanese Minimalist AUBE as a guest artist. In addition, Mago of the label Ad Noiseam (and also of Azure Skies on Ant-Zen and Sanctum on Cold Meat Industries) is present doing a final "Mega-Mix" of several of the tracks. The result is sure to please both the purest noisehead and dancefloor fanatic alike.

Older material that was never before released and was initially felt to lack that certain "something" has been painstakingly reworked, rerecorded, and revamped over many sleepless nights in order to be able to finally bring them to you. These compositions, combined with the newer material on the disc, take the listener on a wonderous journey, travelling both through and beyond the vastness and coldness of space, the horrors and mechanization of urbanized society, and most importantly, the innermost recesses of the mind. Not always pleasant, most times dark and brooding, but always, nonetheless, Acclimate.

A quality release with new things to discover after every listen

”Miscreant” is a collection of tracks recorded between 1996 and 2000 by Artemis K under the name Acclimate. Although the tracks have been reworked for this release, the album has a quite scattered feeling to it. Nevertheless, the album has a lot of good stuff to offer. The songs differ somewhat in style. There are ambient tracks, noise tracks, slow rhythmic industrial tracks and even a rhythmic noise-sounding track and there are quite a few highlights. The album kicks off with “Vrolok”, a harsh piece that starts off with deep, rumbling bass drones and sweeping high-pitched frequencies. Towards the end of the track a slow, distorted beat kicks in. This is an excellent opening track. Next highlight is the third track, “Proselytized v2.5”, which is a collaboration with the acclaimed Japanese artist Aube. The track starts off as an assemblage of noises that creates a nice ambient atmosphere. Almost three minutes into the track the whole thing explodes in a blizzard of pumping beats only to calm down a few moments later and turn into a slow melodic piece. “Black atom” is, quite surprisingly, a rhythmic noise track that sounds like something PAL, Atrox or possibly Esplendor Geometrico could have done in the middle of the 90s. It’s very monotonous but still has a nice groove and a very old school sound to it. “Green worlds past” is the most ambient sounding track off the album and it is a much needed rest for the ears after eleven quite abrasive tracks. The thirteenth and final original track, “Four hours ago”, introduces a groovy tribal rhythm and serves as a nice exclamation point for the album. One track that alone makes this album worth owning is the closing remix by the Swedish act Mago. Subdued noisy backgrounds and somber poetic piano combines to great effect with laid-back crunchy beats. “Miscreant” is filled with interesting and often quite original sounding tracks. There is a lot of quality in it and there are new things to discover each time you listen to it. The diversity of the material makes the album exciting for a long time. Artemis K proves with this release his ability to create original sounds and use them to craft powerful compositions. Often disturbing, his music has an inevitable and strong impact on the listener. Good work!

Don't wait to uncover Acclimate's surreal and exquisite world of sounds

Acclimate's new release "Miscreant" is a collection of previously-unreleased live-recorded tracks that never made it to the records because that something special was missing. Artemis K has now re-worked all of those lost tracks with arrangements, new loops, samples, improved sequences, synthesizers and other stuff and has decided to let you, the listener, acclimate with this new breed of experimental noise-ambient. There are also some very interesting collaborations on this release: world class Japanese noise-intimist master Aube is featured as a guest, there's a remix by Mago and the entire work has been mastered by internationally acclaimed experimentator and engineer Tom DiMuzio. Basically, as you can see, there's plenty of stuff you wanna get accustomed to in this release, so don't wait to uncover the surreal and exquisite world of sounds by Acclimate, where noisy abrasive sounds collide with atmospheric patterns of tranquillity, where layers of dark low-end rumblings hover over minimal textures of electronic experimentalism, where rusty and scratchy power noise beatz clash with synthetic outer space pad work to create a whole new dimension of sonic pleasure. Very interesing and recommended.

Distorted Machines Rhythms, Industrial Hooks and Unwordly Soundscapes make ‘Misc

The American DTA-Records Label releases electronic experimental music and noise on the far side of the larger “Ant-Zen” type commercial breakthroughs. Their last publication was the album ‘Miscreant’ composed by Acclimate. Extremely stylistic, Acclimate lands somewhere between the numerous outputs of the Frankfurt Label Mille Platteaux/Force Inc and establishes itself to the likes of Vladislav Delay or Frank Bretschneider and artists better known as Cabaret Voltaire or Future Sound Of London. Distorted machines rhythms, Industrial Hooks and Unwordly Soundscapes make ‘Miscreant’ a dynamic seventy minute metropolitan nightmare.
