ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Donna Accorso has been performing in clubs/cabarets and in the theater for over 25 years. Her second CD, "Easy to Love," a tribute to her musical mentor, Sarah Vaughan, is finally here and it's an exciting joy ride of color and emotion. Accorso's rich, luxurious vocal stylings reflect the artist to whom she pays homage in this blissfully romantic album.

Miss Vaughan would be proud of her beautiful renditions of such classics as "Tenderly" and "Misty." Her rich voice soars to great heights in the foot stomping Porter tunes, "Easy to Love" and "What is This Thing Called Love" and your heart will break with the simple, delicate vocal of "Spring Will be a Little Late This Year" and the gut wrenching, "Lush Life."

Her marvelous quartet, Johannes Wallmann (arranger, producer) on Piano, Dennis Mitcheltree on Tenor Sax, Sean Conly on Contrabass and Marko Djordjevic on Drums are the musical Dream Team.

I love this CD. Donna has one of the most wonderful singing voices I've ever heard. I would recommend this CD for anybody!

amazing, rich tones-- a must have for your collection
Wow- it's amazing, what a soulful and lovely tone. Just the thing for background music for a romantic dinner for two!

The track "Easy to Love" is indeed easy to love with Donna's treatment, and the
Donna Accorso is a [Sarah Vaughan] devotee and gets into the Sarah stylings, bending notes and twisting melody lines around, and using some of her odd pronunciation.

Two Cole Porter songs are the lively ones: "What Is This Thing Called Love?" states the musical question simply and then lets the each of the musicians really shine. The track "Easy to Love" is indeed easy to love with Donna's treatment, and the CD opens with a great Broadway song, words and music by Richard Rodgers: "The Sweetest Sounds," which is my favorite track.

"Tenderly" is a song closely associated with the jazz diva, and it gets the full Sarah treatment with her stylization tricks and is presented very much in her musical blueprint.

"The More I See You" is very cool, with a great instrumental break. Donna's band is terrific, especially pianist/arranger Johannes Wallman who takes some marvelous solos.

My daughter is now inspired by Donna!
In Donna's CD notes, she writes about listening to Sarah Vaughn as a child, and being inspired. After listening to "Easy to Love", my 8-year old daughter considers Donna such an inspiration! She tries to copy Donna's wonderful vocal stylings. The whole family loves listening to this CD.

So Beautiful
This is such a beautiful CD. I have played it dozen's of times since my purchase and have recommended it to all of my friends. It has the feel of being in an old time jazz club in the days of the great female jazz singers of the 40's and 50's. Ms. Accorso's voice glides over the notes like a nightingale singing over the hilltops. It's so rare to hear a richness and clarity like hers in present day singers

A New Classic
I'm thrilled that Donna has put out a new CD. It's divine to hear her sing with a great quartet and she sounds better than ever. Easy to Love is very easy to love. Thanks Donna, for all the hard work and for singing so beautifully.

Magnificent voice, Sarah would be proud.
Amazing Vocals, great instrumentals. Donna's voice is so rich and powerful. My personal favorites were "Easy to Love", where Donna scats in parallel octaves with a trumpet, and "Spring will be a little late this year", where she reigns in her considerable power and serves up a sweet tender ballad. A must have for jazz lovers and Sara Vaughn fans alike.
