Amanda Chapman read a quote years ago by James Reston that said: "How can I know what I think until I read what I write?" After singing cover songs for years, she decided to test that theory in 2000 and began co-writing her own lyrics and music to both express and learn more about herself. Pretty soon, the ideas came pouring out, and she felt ready to share them. In 2002, Amanda began the recording process at Tritone Music Productions in Escondido, CA and has recently released her debut album, "Crazy or Brave." Amanda's release concert was held at the Historic Star Theatre on North Coast Highway in Oceanside, CA on July 3rd, 2004, and it was a big hit! Approximately 250 people filled the theatre and lined up to have their CDs autographed after the show. Fans exclaimed that Amanda's stage presence and entertainment value prove that she is "in her element" as she sings her original songs for an excited audience, backed by an awesome band. Kids and adults alike feel that her lyrics and music are heartfelt, sincere, fun, insightful, and thought-provoking.
So far, one of the favorite tracks is "Fireball," the catchy bluegrass tune with a train beat and an attitude, which seems to be popular with folks who don't even consider themselves country music listeners. Another fan favorite is the idealistic, sexy love song and guitar-driven pop tune, "Is That Too Much to Ask?" The album is as diverse as Amanda's musical influences, which include the Indigo Girls, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor, David Wilcox, U2, and Willie Nelson.
Though some might say Amanda is crazy to enter the risky business of music, she believes in pursuing your dreams and making them come true.
Amanda Chapman's fans emphatically agree that the answer is, "Brave!"
