ACLB began in 2003 as an acoustic based alt/country band out of Brooklyn, NY but has developed into a more searing rock outfit having criss-crossed the halls and clubs of NYC honing their ear and building their following.
Recorded in Brooklyn in 2006 with engineer Pete Min, the pollyanna EP features songwriter Ann Courtney (vocals, guitar), Lizzie Carena ( keyboards, vocals), David Giambusso (guitars), Ben Byleen (bass) and Michael Lupo (drums). These three tracks were written by Courtney and arranged by the Late Bloomers, including the widely lauded “Glass Eye”.
Ann Courtney says of the record, “The songs are written from the perspective of a pollyanna struggling to maintain her illusions. A pollyanna is often perceived as foolish, but I believe holding fast to one's optimism when there's so much evidence to the contrary is heroic. I'm not sure how it would be possible to live in this world and not become paralyzed by cynicism without it. ACLB was founded on this same dreamy optimism."

Listen to the Pollyanna Ep and hear why Ann Courtney and The Late Bloomers now lure crowds to the stage each time they perform!

I love the EP

Ann is a songwriter I've believed in ever since I first saw her. She inspired more dreams in my life than anyone else I've met, and these dreams have helped me more than I had learnt to convey. She's a dreamer who has made all the difference to me, and I hope I can become half the songwriter and person she is. If she smiles at someone, he tries to become the best person he can be. I'm happier when I get the chance to see her, and her optimism draws people closer to who they want to become.
