I have their first two CD's which are excellent, so I couldn't wait to hear this new release. I was not disappointed. Acoustic Son continues to write beautiful songs with great lyrics. The harmonies are done so well, and they have their own signature sound that makes them unique.  Their voices blend together so well on wonderfully written music. I think either Ken, or Carolyn would make great individual artists, but this groups strong point is how well these two singers blend together into one. The guitar work is outstanding as well as all instruments. It's nice to buy a CD where all the songs are exceptional and not just a couple songs like you find on some other CD's. If you love well written music with great harmonies, then do yourself a favor and buy this CD. You will  not be disappointed. I envy the folks that live in the bay area that are fortunate to hear this group in concert on a regular basis. Acoustic Son is just another example of the great groups that are from the bay area, and with three great CD's they can join that legendary list. Tell your friends about this great CD.

When a group that I like as much as I like Acoustic Son is about to release a new CD, there’s always a guarded anticipation with me. On one hand, I can’t wait for more of the good music that I know and love, and on the other, I’m hoping the group hasn’t gone off on some experimental new direction. With “Cross the Line,” Acoustic Son doesn’t disappoint on both counts. It’s a matured, more polished version of the Acoustic Son of “Time In the Middle.”
There’s a broader palette of instrumentation on this album, as well as Ken and Carolyn’s always insightful, thought-provoking lyrics, and maybe most of all, their awesome vocals. This album boasts more matured and richer vocals individually, but what gets it for me is the way that they blend together. Few duos/groups in history have that magical blend – Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young,  the Eagles, et al. When they sing together, it’s like a chord playing on some celestial instrument is making that sound – not individuals singing together, more like notes in harmony coming from the same source.  “Back From the Edge,” my personal favorite, is a great example of this. Although, “Better Days” recaptures that signature Acoustic Son sound a la “Time in the Middle,” and would be my pick as the album’s single. 
If you’ve never experienced Acoustic Son’s music, do yourself a favor and check it out. And if you’re a longtime fan, you won’t be disappointed!
