Album Notes

The Acoustic Sound Hounds is a bluegrass/country crossover band located near Dallas in Kaufman County, Texas. Their unique style has been described as "country grass." The band specializes in original music, plus their versions of classic country and bluegrass music. This album's songs address love and life with wit and sober reality, along with a little history, and memories of days past.

The band was created when lead singer Pam borrowed a mandolin and learned to play. Soon she was joined by her husband Jeff on guitar, father Phil on bass, uncle Wallace on harmonica and friend Craig on banjo. These band members are certainly well grounded in reality. In addition to their music work, Pam is an elementary school teacher, Jeff is a firefighter, Phil is a consultant, Wallace is a construction superintendent, and Craig is a maintenance supervisor.

This grasp of reality in living their everyday lives is captured in their music. It is unpretentious and self-explanatory. Whether you are headed home from a long journey, ready to help your spouse leave and get on with your life, waiting to find real love, have drawn a line in the sand, lost a loved one, have special childhood memories, or have been extremely lonesome, this album has something for you.

All songs on the album have received radio airplay, and have been performed on live radio shows. "Kisses from Heaven" has been dedicated by author Pam to all the families of military service. "Headed for that Kaufman County Line" was recently performed by children in a second grade class. The band's version of Hank William's classic, "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" is often requested at performances. Described as a "great first album," the band released its CD at a landmark release party in Crandall, Texas, on July 22, 2011, and it has been growing in popularity since.

The album was created to satisfy the desires of the band's fans. Early in the process, the band decided that the album would be professionally recorded and engineered. It was recorded by Casey Di Iorio at one of the premier recording studios in Dallas, Valve Studios, and mastered at New Windsor, New York, by Alan Douches at West West Side Music/Deko Music. Continuing the quest for a great product, album photography was shot by Jason Sherman Photography, Dallas, Texas, and the graphics design was added by Jessica Nixon, Nixonnotes, Cottonwood, Texas.

There's no Nashville Pop with this group! This offers some down home country charm with that Southern Texas rhythm. Great original tunes. So glad I bought this album!

I love this CD! I heard them at an Acoustic Music camp this summer and they have a unique sound. It's a cross between Texas Country and bluegrass. This is an upbeat album with great lyrics to boot!
