Since their inception in early 2000, ACRES has quickly emerged as a strong voice on the southeastern music scene. As one of Atlanta, GA's premier pop/rock talents, ACRES has shared the stage with renowned acts such as Collective Soul, Jason Mraz, Train, Tantric, Alice Peacock, Oleander, Josh Joplin, Rusted Root, Drivin N' Cryin, and Arrested Development. ACRES combines powerful vocals, gritty guitars, a tight rhythm section, and strong story lines to capture the attention of fans and music critics alike. This was evident when they won four readers choice awards in Atlanta's premiere entertainment magazine Creative Loafing's "best of Atlanta 2002" issue, including best overall band, best rock band, best vocalist (Tim Acres), and best songwriter (Tim Acres).
Their January 2002 independent release "Pet Rocks" received critical acclaim and nationwide radio exposure. ACRES received airplay on 35 commercial stations across the country, including daytime BDS airplay on WPLJ in New York (nationally ranked #1 market), KIIS in Los Angeles (nationally ranked #2 market), and 14 other BDS stations. Soon after hitting the airwaves, ACRES' single "One Way Believe" responded immediately with station programmers, and shot into the top ten most requested on Panama City Florida's Hot107.9, a nearly unheard of feat for an unsigned band.
ACRES has played for tens of thousands of enthusiastic music fans at festivals, colleges, clubs, and music conference showcases in the south (including Music Midtown, Dogwood Festival, Coca-Cola's On the Bricks, Atlantis Music Conference in Atlanta, the U.S. Army) and they continue to draw large audiences with their explosive live show.
In the words of the Kansas Program Director for KJCK, "I love these guys and they are going to be huge. And if not, there is something wrong with the world."

True music for the people!
author: Sarah Clegg
Many artists today fall into the trap of being pigeon-holed into a specific music genre. Once they have defined their niche, they continue to produce material specific only to that musical category. Not so with ACRES and the proof of this is found in PET ROCKS. With the release of this fantastic effort, it is my hope that many more will tap in to the infectious energy that this band carries with them everywhere they go. Listening to the contrast between hard-driven songs such as "Wrecking Ball" and the melodic beauty of "Real", it is impossible to deny the talent and musicianship of the band members, but the material is presented in such an honest and straightfoward way (both live and on this cd) that it becomes accesible to listeners from every walk of life. I challange anyone to listen to "My Resume" and not find it to be a page right out of their own struggles as a twenty-something. If you like this cd, buy it, listen to it constantly and learn the words to every song. Then go see ACRES live, watch them really shine, sing along with them and become a part of the growing family of people who love this band and want to see them get the national recognition they deserve. I'll probably be standing right next to you if you do!

Acres is the Real Deal!
author: Jeff Millar-Sax
Pet Rocks is a "must have" CD whether you are into intelligent lyrics, driving rock grooves, radio friendly melodies or just plain good music.
Tim Acres has crafted songs with wit, passion and savvy, finding new ways to address old subjects, and tackling some subjects that are not common ground such as in the songs "My Resume" and "Car Crash."
From the opening notes of "Kindling" to the final chords of "When I Wake Up" the listener is taken on an "E-Ticket" ride.
By the way, don't turn it off after "When I Wake Up" because there's great live track called "Together" that they snuck in as a bonus tease to let you know that this is not just another "packaged & slickly studio produced" band. Live, THEY ROCK!!
The musicianship on this album is tight. Art Thompson, Dan Bauman and Jen Lowe make up a super-tight and sympatico rhythm section. Art on drums and Jen on percussion play as if they were one united instrument and with Dan's tastefull riffs on the bass they hold the bottom together. This enables Art's brother Aaron to add all of those tasty but not overindulgent lead guitar lines that intertwine with Tim's "rock perfect" voice.
The songs are strong; melodies, chords, groove and especially the lyrics. The musicianship is powerful yet subtle, and the tease of their live performance skills makes me wish that they would come to LA so I could see them.
Acres is an up-and-comer that you need to be acquainted with now so you can say "I knew them when."
