The most salient fact about The End of the Beginning is that, like a good novel, it invites us to begin again. This is an album for listening to, from start to finish.
The album is torn between two ideals, that of craft and of vulnerability. The album is forever crossing between demo and finished product, as if Cole were transforming himself right in front of us. The chorus of “The Saddest Girl” is country; nevertheless it’s not meant to sound like any country singer we’ve heard before. The infectious bounce of a song like “My Blood Uncles” may suggest a kind of a hook, but the mood never takes away from the poignant ending.
A unique hybrid of craft and risk, Adam Cole is a songwriter willing to reveal himself as unfinished for the sake of reaching his audience.

I can't stop singing along to this cd
author: Rachel Feingold
I can't stop singing along to this cd. The lyrics go from quirky to downright heartbreaking (All of My Women). I love Adam's clear and honest vocal quality. Its almost as if he is having a conversation with each listener.

Fabulous lyrics to go with great tunes.
author: Ellen Kliman
He has such a way with words. The Beatles woulda dug him? I dug that song -- in fact, I laughed out loud.
