Adam Hutchins is a UK based jazz pianist, composer & educator working in North West England. Born in 1976, he studied classical piano through childhood before attending Leeds College of Music where he graduated in 1998 with the BA Honours degree in Jazz Studies. Adam also took further studies at Salford University in Manchester where he received the Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance.
Adam works with a variety of professional jazz, swing and pop bands, performing piano, electric piano & hammond organ on original material & covers. His debut album for Quintet features vocalist Janet Galloway in addition to Jim Corry on saxes, Emlyn Vaughan on double bass & Hugh Lawrence on drums.
The songs on the album are melodic, mainstream tunes in the jazz standard tradition - jazz fans may recognise some of the chord changes as being influenced by the great songwriters such as Gershwin, Cole Porter & Carmichael.
Janet Galloway's voice is both warm & emotional, possessing a great control & rich timbre. She is surely one of England's undiscovered vocal talents! Jim Corry is a busy session player working internationally with recording artiste Corinne Bailey-Rae. Emlyn Vaughan & Hugh Lawrence both maintain busy professional performing schedules with a variety of bands.
