2 Head City is Contemporary Solo Guitar, un-fenced. It is unique, risky, unorthodox and beautiful. This music is a fusion of styles which are seldom found together on one album, in one tune or on one guitar. Adam O'Connor weaves musical ideas in a way that makes it difficult to categorize. The 12 original tunes make this album as much about the writing as it is about the playing. The cover shot of an oil refinery reflects the music within; fiery, shadowy, ugly and beautiful, intricate, precarious and brilliant.
ADAM O’CONNOR – 2 Head City
(Independent)
“Real life guitar hero shows off his skills”
South Brisbane resident O’Connor managed to find some spare time in between raising his family and being a school music
co-ordinator to lay down a collection of his own original electric guitar tracks. The accomplished guitarist digs deep into his 20 year playing history to cover a range of styles. Scokey Pokey and The Adder are jazzy, playful pieces while high and low rhythms race alongside each other in 2 Head City. Cygnet begins a medley of softer songs full of dreamy melodies that ends with the suitably sleep-inducing Lullaboys. O’Connor shows off his funky side on Carpet Burns with dancey guitars and bouncy bottom end. Krusty sees him at his most creative and energetic combining a variety of styles and frenetic fi nger-tapping over changing tempos while rockabilly tune Hilltop Boogie is the one most likely to get people up and dancing.
