ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Aurora Borealis (also called "Northern Lights") is a song I wrote and recorded in 1998. It was inspired by the first time I was lucky enough to see the Aurora from Fort Sewall in Marblehead, Massachusetts. The song features Michelle Cherie and me singing a duet, accompanied by me on piano and keyboards. Singing spring peepers (frogs) can be heard introducing and closing out the song. There is a colorful instrumental solo, giving the Aurora a voice to sing by.

When this song was written, Michelle and I were part of a folk-rock band called Bad Accent, along with Evzen Holas, Jenny Smaltz, Chuck Becker, and John Butler. Originally, this song was going to be released on an album we had completed in 1999.

The song was written somewhat as technical poetry, sung in a cheerful and jazzy style. I hope you find as much joy in it as I did in seeing the real thing.
