Album Notes

Adam Zucker is a poet, a conduit of humanity in lyric. He has seen the highest peaks and the lowest valleys. He has walked the paths a million times traveled, and forged his way through those never before explored. He is the philosopher and the pragmatist; the poor man and the rich man; the government and the slave thereof; the melancholy realist and the hopeless romantic. He is the rambling soul, the dogged traveler, Emerson’s transparent eye. With a pad, a pen, and an acoustic guitar, he writes the story of the road, channels our world through the poetics of love, loss, isolation, and displacement.

Adam Zucker is an artist. His task is not unlike that of the painter; presented with a canvas of silence and a blank notepad, he painstakingly contemplates every miniscule brushstroke, be it with a guitar pick or a pen, until a song is born. Fusing rock, folk, electronic, and blues sensibilities, he is anything but ordinary; but that’s okay, he was never one to follow the masses. With a delicate yet authoritative touch, he crafts music that turns heads, opens eyes, and expands minds. And he would like to extend a cordial invitation to you to come on out and become a part of his reality. He knows you’ll like what you hear.

“Zucker is an indie-folk love whose alternative style offers nods to everyone from Dylan to Oberst to Yorke. Zucker’s craft is meditative and textured – with lyrics that reach beyond his years and your ears. His voice is a low-range, low-register drone/hum perfect for compelling storytelling... his approach could have helped a national act like Shawn Mullins be more successful. Zucker’s tracks “A Soldier's Lullaby,” the set-opener “Going Home,” “Chasing Tomorrow” (our personal fave) and “Summer Sky” are perfect adult-alternative cuts with striking instrumental interplay and staggered layers softened in passion and production. Each tune is like a beach stone, tumbled on the lake floor before washing on the shore. Take note: Jacob Bergson from the [Cleveland Jazz Project] plays organ on three of the disc’s tracks. Good stuff from this Zucker cat; an auspicious debut.”
