Album Notes

ADATISThe Funky Rock Explosion known as ADATIS was born in New York City. At it's core, is Amy Douglas, often described as the secret lovechild of Robert Plant and Chaka Khan, a stunning and sassy vocalist/pianist and composer with an astonishing 6 octave range, woke up one morning with a vision. She longed to create a group which would rock hard, groove harder and readjust the failing planet back to the "real deal." In other words, "to find the real rock stars, write some unforgettable classics, and show the world how it used to be done."

What began as a funky songwriting process has now evolved into a collective. At it's nucleus are AlSheeva, a StarChild guitarist, fomerly of the band Ricanstruction, with a blazing Hendrix-like melodic lead style of playing, and the supercharged funk of Nile Rodgers, and Mark Thors on the keys, who came formerly from Phish side project The Dude of Life. Having played with Trey Anastasio and others, this man was up for a funky challenge, and in ADATIS, he surely found it. Two parts Greg Phillinganes, One part Bernie Worrell, and the other Herbie Hancock, Mr. Thors, is the mighty God of Thunder on keys that his name ensures.

Rounding out the group is a collective of Funky Supastars (from the ADATIS song namesake) including Joe Todaro on second guitar, Jonathan Price on Bass and Dave "DD" Dawson on drums

With guns loaded, and a brand new CD finished, they started playing out at a lightning pace. Almost as quickly, they started getting a reputation for winning over crowds at such venues as Don Hill's, Village Underground; SOB's, CB's Gallery, The Bitter End, The Stone Pony, The Joyous Lake, The Saint, and have become favorites most notably at Tobacco Road. Over the next year, they are scheduled to appear Murray's Inn, PA, Sully's Pub, CT, Amherst Brewing Company and many many other great venues. Currently, ADATIS is also being played on WVOF Radio, 88.5 FM where their single "Girlfriend" is becoming a fast favorite. Most recently, Amy Douglas, traveled to Japan for New Year's Eve 2002, and rocked Tokyo's houses, and the ADATIS CD was featured in the Month of December as a Featured Artist CD, as it is selling like hotcakes!!!

ADATIS's song "Iced Coffee" has most recently reached #1 on Garageband.com's Funk/Soul Charts.

REVIEWS

Some seriously hard hitting r&b funk and pop from a NYC band, sporting a no-nonsense woman who can SANG! Touching on and drop-kicking everything from James Brown-esque type funk to Chaka Kahn liquid-smooth sensuality to Zap Mama pop groove to the genius of Sly and the Family Stone, this album is one you're going to want to selfishly guard for yourself, as we can guarantee that it will have a tendency to disappear.

THIS IS SOME OF THE BEST NEW MUSIC I'VE EVER HEARD
author: BJ
It's not often that you hear a band and from the first note, you know....that you are witnessing something not just good, but groundbreaking. The sound is essentially that of a classic rock and soul sound, blended well, using current styles by which to communicate it. Each song, is like a movement in and of itself. From Girlfriend, a slammin down and dirty rocker that features Amy Douglas's, almost freakishly stellar set of pipes (she's like Ann Wilson, and Aretha Franklin rolled up together) to Funky Supastar, the most James Brown tune I've heard in a while since Was Not Was's Walk the Dinosaur, this is music to simply take in to your body and soul. There is just no doubt, this band...is going to be the hugest thing in the next 2 years. This is a must have!

So Funky I Had To Buy It!
author: Rick White
Well from the time I popped this CD into the player my body was bopping and dancing. I haven't had this from a CD in a long time. That is why i am taking the time now to write on Amy Douglas. Her song writting is absolutly amazing and I can not understand why this band is not signed to a major label as of yet. The songs I listen to over, and over are catchy and the choruses stick in my head ALL DAY! This is not a cheaply made CD, proffessional all the way. Oh, and one other thing..I emailed Amy to compliment her on her music writting and she actually answered me back! A real down to earth gal. I am impressed by Amy Douglas personally and musically. Do yourself a favor and buy this one of a kind CD! I may be at the furthest point from New York (Seattle) but I have Amy playing all day long! Can't wait for her next album! Thanks Amy!
