Adelaide formed in the summer sun of 2003, in Portland, Oregon.
A fascination with the combinations of sound and image led them to create a live show that includes 16mm film projections, electronics and live instrumentation. Rhodes, guitar, bass, synthesizer, and drums twist into soundscapes that provide a pulsing soundtrack to live projections of found footage. Adelaide is Michael Bauch, Adam Porterfield, Ethan Rose, Bob Muscarella, and Ryan Jeffery.
"Adelaide isn't just a band; it's a group of archeologists. After forming last summer, the Portland quintet dug through reels and reels of old 16mm film to find scratchy, yellowed footage featuring early-20th-century city life. Projected behind the band during shows, the films have a strange voyeuristic quality when accompanied by Adelaide's spacey compositions that mix ethereal electronics and minimal guitar and drum parts. It honestly feels like you're spying on a quaint past from the complex confines of the future." (Mark Baumgarten, Wilamette Week)

Adelaide is the soundtrack to my memories

This CD was purchased FIRST on this website, SECOND at their show in ottawa @ club SAW and recently again in montreal @ salla rosa.
In so many more ways than one, the album delves into my memories and attemps (successfully at that) to score the moments spent lying in the grass, staring at the sun and watching life go bye as the warm breeze passes over the slow summer. A completely Brilliant debut. I cannot express how inspirational this album is. The only thing i can say is that its already familiar, before the first chord finishes echoing... soo soothing

My favorite band.

My favorite cd/band ever (or attleast in the top 5, its hard to pick). I just counted how manny bands i listen to, to prove the point of how much I like this stuff: 200+.
The music is really lovely, thoughtful, and dreamy, instrumental stuff. Kinda similar to Album Leaf, so if you like that stuff, you'll love this.

Instrumental wonderland!!!
author: Scott Nevett, England
This is an excellent addition to any music collection. It will especially delight those who enjoy laid back instrumental rock (with electronic undrtones). I'm a massive fan of bands like Do Make Say Think and Jaga Jazzist, so i'm always on the lookout for little instrumental gems, especially with great drums. This one shines bright in my collection. Buy, buy, buy!!!
