Album Notes

Ado Matheson - Celtic Singer Songwriter

Ado was brought up on the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles of Scotland. His father was a Gaelic Singer and Songwriter before him performing at concerts and ceilidhs throughout Scotland and his grandfather was crowned the Celtic Bard in recognition of his writing in the 50's.

Ado has just completed 'Out on the Islands' a CD of his own material which he recorded mostly with his son Hans on percussion and backing vocals. Their voices blend together in true 'genetic harmony'.

The songs are an original collection of vivid memories, dreams and reflections inspired by the powerful images and emotions of his homeland. Often described as 'singing gaelic in english' Ado is a passionate performer and his music touches the heart of humankind - 'deeply personal and universally poetic'.

REVIEWS

Out on the Islands
author: Laura Lambourne
This is one of the most beautiful CDs I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Each song is so personal and true to his roots. Ado's voice is so relaxing and Hans' vocals compliment completely but are definitely backing vocals as wanted. 'Wings on the Water' is instrumental but is definitely my favourite on the album, it really does make you feel as if you are away in one of the most beautiful places. I can't recommend this CD high enough.

Pride of the collection!!!

It has been about a year since I bought Out on the Islands and I haven't stopped listening to it. I find that after the initial excitement of a cd purchase wears off if the music doesn't truly touch me to the core the disc gets laid aside; however that hasn't happened with Out on the Islands. Each song has its own special meaning to me and inspires me differently. To name a few: The old fisherman, wings on the water, The Harbor and Iona captured me right from the begining. The cd is simply wonderful and I wish more people made Ado's kind of music. I hope one day soon he records more songs. I'm a true fan of his work
