Combine the energy of hooky guitar leads and driving drums with ambient electric overtones and breathy female vocals and youve equated the sound of Adora Rising.
Adora Rising found its beginning in late 2004 when singer/songwriter Shelly Fraley decided to expand her solo career. "When I decided to record the Gravity album, I knew I didnt want to be pigeon holed into any one genre because I have so many different influences. I was looking for a sound that went beyond what I could do alone on stage with an acoustic guitar or piano. I wanted a larger than life, orchestrated sound on some songs and a more minimal sound on others. So I began playing with several musicians, experimenting with different styles and sounds until I found the ones I thought worked," said Fraley. While ultimately showcasing Fraleys voice and lyrics, the completed works also paid musical tribute to influences such as Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse, Ben Harper and Gemma Hayes.
"Shelly Fraley has gone from budding talent to full-blown formidable singer-songwriter and this collection, the first full-length release from her outfit Adora Rising, is proof positive as she delivers a series of mature, radio-ready songs that drawn on a diverse body of contemporary influences." Jed Beaudoin, Wichita f5
With Gravity completed and a second album already in the works, Adora Rising is rapidly progressing and growing into a sound that is all its own. In Fraleys most recent works, she flexes a few different creative muscles, introducing even more classical influences as well as full-on rock moments into the songs. "I only write music when I can feel it stirring in me. Some of the new tunes that have resulted are a bit more dark and sarcastic, some of them are a little lonely, and some of them are hopeful... ultimately though, all of them are honest. And honesty, I think, is really the key to any good song."
