Album Notes

Molina Soleil is an acclaimed rap/spoken word artist with a captivating story and a fresh and provocative style. An educated Chicano from an immigrant, blue-collar background, he represents a new voice within the burgeoning Latina/o community and speaks to a diverse audience with honest and unrelenting poetic flows, touching on personal, cultural, social, and political themes.

Stylistically, Molina pushes the boundaries of the Rap industry, blending Hip-Hop with subtle elements of industrial, rock, and experimental. His music is as accessible as it is challenging and provocative, blending art and entertainment with his work as an activist and educator.

Molina’s first full-length album Up Before the Sunrise is creating a buzz with ten solid tracks that feature razor-sharp lyricism, catchy hooks, and original production. Onstage, Molina brings his work to life through passionate performances that inspire thought, dialogue, and creativity.

I'm a white, 38 year old woman who teaches middle school. I LOVE this CD! I played La Historia del Mexicano for my class (large Mexican immigrant population in my school) and had them write a reflection. I got responses ranging from "I live that same life!" to "My family went through similar experiences when we came from Europe." It has opened up a really healthy dialogue among my students- bridges are being built between different cultures because of commonalities. Many of the songs aren't appropriate for my students' age group (language), but all contain real, valid, moving messages.
