An amazing Celtic-jazz-worldbeat release!
author: Raven
Californian singer, songwriter and music producer Regan (whose musical project is called High Priestess) has teamed up with a group of equally-talented fellows for the album “OakSong.” All of High Priestess’s work has an aura of mysticism, which is unsurprising considering that Regan refers to herself as a psychedelic shaman. Having recently completed her second album, Regan is obviously hard at work on her creations and has extreme dedication to expressing spirituality through song. However, “OakSong” is more Celtic and world-influenced than the previous Gothic-electronica of “Sellisternia.” The success of each genre proves that High Priestess is capable in a number of genres. Not to mention, Regan herself is an acclaimed solo harpist to boot!
The website www.high-priestess-productions.com describes the musical project as “…a dynamic and passionate live performance incorporating traditional Celtic and magickal music with rock, cabaret and classical styles.” I couldn’t agree more! Though the band emphasizes the power inherent in their live performance, the studio album naturally captures the group’s passion about all things music and magick.
The album is quite diverse and is dripping with Witchy Pagan lyrics. Tales and stories are portrayed through Regan’s powerful voice and backed by talented rhythm ranging from drums and guitars to pianos and violins. In suit with High Priestess’s signature sensual overtones, tracks like “The Shaking of the Sheets” and “Heart’s Song” focus on love, lust and attraction. Some tracks include backing male vocals, adding a balance to the female lyrics. Some of the jazzier tracks on “OakSong” are even reminiscent of the classically-eerie Twin Peaks soundtrack. I was filled with joy to hear a total departure on the last track, a cover of Blondie’s “Rapture”—is that industrial music?! Sweet ending!

Imagine your world and live it for real
author: Paul Bondarovski - Midnight Special Blues Radio
Incredible, hypnotizing album. There's more to it than only the divine Music, deep meaningful lyrics and stirring performance. The message inside the "envelope" goes far beyond the pseudo-optimistic banality and silliness so usual in New Age. Life is what we take it for. No need to be taken out of this world to live in a different one. Imagine yours and live it for real. Listen to High Priestess and learn how.

Her music is truly unique!
author: regular guy
The CD is really interesting and trippy. Regan does her thing well. This is a good CD to pick up if you would like an alternative music experience. She plays an underrepresented instrument, the harp, beautifully. Also, the other reviewer, Bob, is completely nuts. Lower the dosage dude!

Escape this world for hers, float on her voice and be wrapped by her notes
author: Bob
The songs are a relaxing trip away from this plane. She carries the tune and your mind to another simpler place. Listen carefully and you will feel her soul wrap you in the lyrics. Smile as the harp tickles and melts away the drudge and leaves only a smile. Float on her long notes and rest peacefully in the harmonies. A soothing escape from the harsh sounds and hammering discords of today. Close your eyes and you will see the faeries and the green warm meadows.
