ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Advice To The Players was founded in 1999 to bring Shakespeare's rich and sensual words to life in northern New Hampshire. Why Shakespeare? Why now? Because 400 years later, his language is as deep and as huge as our pas-sions, because his themes transform us and make us as large as we are meant to be, because iambic pentameter is the beating of our human hearts. Since it first drew breath, Advice To The Players' lively and unique company of theatre professionals, community members, and teens has been in the Shakespeare - the transformation - business. These are some of our voices. Enjoy.

Caroline Nesbitt, Artistic Director Rebecca Boyden, Managing Director

Shakespeare’s plays contain songs but he left us no music, only words. I did not set out to write music for Shakespeare but somehow new music came to me -- influenced by English folk and early music traditions, with electronica, and time signatures of 5 and 7-- and it has cloaked the actors of ATTP with magic and mystery for the last five years. Here is my original music, plus some traditional melodies which may have been heard in the days of the Bard.

Patrick Hornig, Composer
