AES is an emcee, producer, and musician who hails from a Denver-based independent hip hop label called Voicebox. He comes from a crew called the Makeshift Gods, with fellow Voicebox Records artists Sentence, Notthesame, and DJ Thought. This album is a 33-song epic dive into the possibilities of truly rhythmic hip hop. The instrumental track runs throughout the entirety of the album, creating a solid piece of music broken up into dozens of songs. The lyricism is complex, but straightforward and the beats range from hard-hitting to mellow. A must have for any true hip hop head interested in the progression of the movement and the music. Guest Appearances include Voicebox Records and GONE members: Sentence, Notthesame, DJ Thought, Y-Roc, Uncle D, and the Fool (of Sweet Nectar).
AES performs constantly throughout Colorado and the rest of the US with his group Gone and his live instrumental hip hop group Listen.

A deep meditation of what hip hop should be

Yes, "c'est de la très bonne came" = "this is really good stuff". I'm glad to discover this sound, equal to a big trip in different backspaces. Up, down, left, right, straight, curve : never flat. Now I know what I have to do with my mainstream HIP HOP cds : direct to the trash can. Don't look behind, look ahead with AES.
