Album Notes

The Arkansas First Jurisdiction Mass Choir is comprised of members from various COGIC churches across North Eastern Arkansas. These Churches are part of the Arkansas First Jurisdiction which under the leadership of Bishop L.T. Walker. Bishop Walker has served as Jurisdictional Prelate in Arkansas First Jurisdiction for over 40 years. He has helped to bring Arkansas to the forefront within the Church of God in Christ with His strong leadership and commitment to ministry. It was his desire and vision to have the Jurisdictional choir record an album and as Executive Producer, he both spiritually and financially supported the making of this project.

For the past 30 years, Dr. Odis H Richmond has faithfully served as President/Minister of Music of the Arkansas First Jurisdiction Music Department. An accomplished singer, songwriter, and anointed speaker, Dr. Richmond has lead this choir and helped them to become one of the premier choirs in the state of Arkansas.

"He laid His hands on me" was produced by Alvin Coleman Jr. for Alcarr Productions. Elder Coleman is 3rd vice president of the Jurisdictional Choir, an accomplished musician, singer, and songwriter.

"He Laid His Hands on Me", is a collection of songs that are tailored for Sunday Morning worship. With a variety of styles and flavor that will fit into just about any church setting, this album is a must have for those looking to hear songs of inspiration, and a call for rededication to God. From the opening song "Magnify Him", a foot-tapping, hand-clapping upbeat praise, to the soul stirring sounds of the title track "He Laid His hands on Me" and the ultimate call to discipleship in "I want to be saved" this album ministers to the very heart and soul of the listener.

As gospel music has evolved over the years it has expanded to cover many different styles and genres that can appeal to a wide variety of listeners. It was the vision of our President, Dr. Richmond, to produce songs that would be a tribute to the pioneers of Gospel music such as James Cleveland, and Dr. Mattie Moss Clark while also having enough flavor to reach present day listeners. This project does precisely that. It gives honor to those who paved the way for gospel artists today, while maintaining enough “edge” to attract listeners of any age.

This CD project features singers, musicians, songwriters, and soloist all from the state of Arkansas. It is our prayer that you experience the awesome touch of God as you listen to and are blessed by “He Laid His Hands On Me”.
