Our family LOVES this CD!!!!!!!! It is so groovy and fun to sing :)
We are Aussies living in Botswana and bought it recently on a trip to Joburg (Jozi!), at Rosebank I think Donna, and sing it constantly. Miss 3 sits on the sofa and pours over the CD case - it is her favourite thing LOL.Our Saffa friends love it when we say Yebo! And I've been educating all my friends about Africa each day on FB.
Hope you can come to Ftown one day soon Graeme, well done!

Hugely talented South African musicians Graeme Sacks and Erika Strydom have done the parents of young children an enormous favour - goodbye Barney, hello unique, funky, African educational music for tots that will have adults boogie-ing along from the first drumbeat.

My daughter is 1 and squeals everytime she hears it. The cd is awesome, the lyrics, the music and the whole concept. We are far away from home so this is a fantastic way for her to learn the alphabet along with all the cute and proudly South African ways to remember the letter. Every kid should have one. Thanks to her God Mother who sent it to us!!-*

I love this CD! Not only has it got amazing rhythms for dancing, but the music and lyrics are great! my 9month old smiles everytime she listens to it!

I’ve been given a LOT of kids’ CDs, to be honest. And I’ve never ever listened to a single one of them before. Until I got given this one. Not only is the cover completely and utterly funky, what’s inside is just as unique and homegrown.
A CD of songs, which I’m sure my Kid will listen to on repeat – teaching the alphabet, but with an African flavour. The A-Z is of things relating to Africa.
The most awesome thing about this CD? I don’t have to feel guilty about Americanising my Kid – this CD teaches him about African music, culture and pecularities. And, even though he’s already addicted and keeps saying ‘more, mommy more’, and bopping his head and banging on the tables – the bestest best thing? It’s not annoying Barney the Dinosaur or Balamory, or Granny Murray. It’s adult-friendly. Believe it or not, even though the Kid is having a nap right now, I’m still listening to it.
Well worth buying is my recommendation. Definitely very much so. Kids’ music that is non-creepy and actually rather cool for adults is hard to come by .

I never bought my kids CDs when they were small. They grew up with their fathers music, the radio and one Barney video.
That was until I heard this CD - The African Alphabet
It is the only kids CD I have actually spent money on. Purely because I dont mind hearing it. It doesnt make me want to cut my ears off to stop the sound.
And its a uniquely South African CD which really makes it more awesome.
Basically its a CD of the alphabet – each letter is assigned something South African – B is Baobab, J is for Johannesburg, T is for Taxi – things like that.
The tune is funky and you cant help but sing along (for the children). The lyrics are smart and easy for the kids to pick up.

Hi, I received the African Alphabet CD as a gift for my new born daughter. SHes 5 months and I put it on a few days ago. I cant listening to it, singing it, humming it and telling people about it. It is just fantastic, the best kids music CD I have listened to. it does not even compare to the other synthesised music on the market. I really hope that you will be producing lots more stuff. I see you also have a CD on stories from Africa. Please can you put me on your distribution list. I would to hear about any new products. Thank you for brightening up my day.

Just wanted to say my daughter loves your CD-she is 6mnths and our bath time routine would not be the same without it!

I LOVE the CD and I think the kids I work with will love it too (many of them respond well to music that has a strong beat). I am a speech-language pathologist and work with children 0-21 years old with developmental disabilities. I am working on a "safari" theme for a multisensory play group I do every week for some of our most severely disabled children

I bought your CD at my last visit in SA for my children and they love to listen to it (even they don’t understand everything)

I thought you might like this anecdote about your African ABC CD:
Recently, old friends from England and their new children (aged eight and four) came to visit me very briefly, and beforehand I went to a CD shop to look for something useful and South African to give them. Luckily my eye fell on your CD, and I bought it. The friends listened to it while driving through parts of South Africa, and the children (well, and the parents too!) soon knew all the words. That is, nearly all: The four-year-old, being an imaginative sort and still young enough to mis-hear certain words, mis-heard "K is for the Kudu, who kicks up dust in the Kalahari!" and apparently goes around singing at the top of his lungs: "K is for the Kudu, who picks up dust in the Calamari!" You can imagine that his parents and his elder sister have a good laugh every time he comes up with these words.
Well, I hope this has been entertaining for you too.
Congratulations on a very enjoyable product.
Rebecca
I love your CD and sing it to my newborn all of the time. I also do work in South Africa each summer helping AIDS orphan projects. I feel it is important to bring what I do and more about Africa into the classroom.

I bought the africanabc cd when I was in Rosebank in September.
Last weekend I gave it to my little grand-daughter for her birthday and we were delighted with it.

My wife and I absolutely love this album! We both work with children---my wife in dance and me in percussion, so it's a great album to have on hand for teaching not only rhythm, movement, and singing, but also teaching about other cultures and just how similar we all are. Thank you Graeme and your fine musicians for making such a great piece of work for us to enjoy!
