African Identity came from the conscious era of hip hop when X-clan, Tribe Called Quest, KRS One, E.P.M.D and the likes reigned supreme on the air and in the streets.
With no major label Hunafa whose name is African Identity a.k.a. Irving Jones started in the college circuit doing shows and networking with DJ's around the Bay Area. Black Book came from Project X a group in The Prince Hall Projects on McAllister St. that was the first to represent political and rebel rousing music in Fillmore along with International Jah Posse.
The African Identity Classic Hitz is the group's effort to bring to light their impact on hip hop today and yesterday. Do you Know Your African Identity, If not check them out....
