I like Yes, King Crimson,David Bowie's work with disonance sounds,Zappa and big fan of the KINKS too for songwriting different type songs!! I also like jazz Miles Davis Bitches Brew. This is a really good CD with so many influences and interesting songs.

40 minutes 32 seconds of joy and captive feelings as Afterthem takes it to the next level. In the 1960's or 1970's or in 2040 this would and will be an album discovered like a lost Picasso painting or sandwich Andy Warhol took a bite out of. O.K. I wrote the song lyrics for two songs here.( I was paid a half eaten pickel on rye for the review and 55 ounce coffee after published) Palomino Dreams is a story of perverted heterosexual cowboy love( John Wayne, Montgomery Cliff and Ben Cartwright drunk and in love but not with each other. They DIG HOT CHICKS IN HIGH HEELS! They live in the non politicaly correct world of the big green valley and not on some mountain that is broke back to back. Palamino Dreams is known to raise the libido of romantic men and woman and even a few cows on the range. If you love Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan you might dig this song in my opinion. It's like a Henry Miller book of sexual dreams hidden from view. "Cowboys and Popcorn, toddlers at the silver screen" No fury like an artist being punched in metaphors" Perfect Woman "She married a proctologist from the upper class" listen and get the rest of the story. Rise and Shine is like waking up in the morning to a cold shower making the day turn into focus. Vocalist Tomar De Fresco has the soul of a jazz singer and the mind of a cartoonist drawing Mad Magazine in time tunnell. HIT ME NOW a great jazzy funk song with Tomar De Fresco hitting all the notes anyway he wants to and it damm works!D.George plays notes on and off the keyboards not discovered yet by anyone else( Einstein would be jealous and not able to figure out the math patterns of D.George's genius) and in off and on beats that keep the music interesting on the 50th listen even more then then virgin ears on this disc , it grows on you each time you hear it and doesn't get old or tiresome, it keeps you up more then bus with every seat filled and covered in viagra. AFTERTHEM IS taking it to the next level no expiration date on the passion, fun and smiling faces of this music. If you dig poets like Anne Sexton and old fashion TV shows and ladies lingere departments and hotdogs on the beach this is the album for you. Jennifer and Juliet have sweet, vibrant voices from heaven that counter the funky Mr. Tomar's howls that make the moon hide with a smile. Were are the John Hammond's and Sam Phillips of record companies today? They work for CD Baby and give you the opportunity to own this top notch album. Play it in romantic settings or if your by yourself thinking up how to take your life to the Next Level. Climb on board cause this disc is waiting on you and check out the tracks now. I wonder how the late Lester Bangs would consider this album? Perhaps Captain Kangaroo would have dug it? Romantic lovers this album is better then 10,000 oysters times 5! Back to the Betty Ford Decaf center for me to cure my 55 cup a day addiction. I'll make sure I bring AfterThem's Next Level to the auction to show but not sell. Time for one last coffee before rehab.

This is a pretty cool album. It has a little of everything and the off beats to the songs are wild and not standard for most music these days.It kinda stands out in fresh sort of way. I'm a drummer and appreciate the creative signatures the band get's into. This is a true album since each song is linked to the next. Good Job Afterthem! I don't know if this is the next level but it's good music.

I laughed reading the other guy's review of this record. Then I listened to Palamino Dreams and was shocked. A great lyric and story and woman singers with fine voices and spirit. Really good song! I discoverd CD Baby because a friend said there was cool INDY music. Found this by just shopping around and the other songs were really good too. I can't believe this group isn't on a major label like Radiohead. The music is trippy and fun. Pleasant surprise and if you like music that gives a good vibe afterthem delivers for me.
