One of the best prog albums of this or any other year
author: Jeff Gutenberg
"Knowledge" is one of the finest prog albums I've heard this or any year. Guitarist/vocalist Mark Alden Benson, keyboardist Ken Archer, bassist/vocalist Jeff Brewer and drummer Rich Kornacki have crafted a stunning collection of prog-rock epics that recalls the finest moments of classic bands like Yes and Genesis, with a distinctly American flavor a la Kansas or Spock's Beard. Two of the tracks are over 19 minutes in length, with another clocking in just shy of 21 minutes, two more at nearly 8 minutes, and one at just under 3 minutes. The vocal harmonies are gorgeous, the playing by all involved (especially Archer) is magnificent, the compositions are stellar, and the sonics are lush, rich and atmospheric. Anyone who really loves the sound of no-apologies, no-compromise traditional progressive rock *needs* to hear this awesome disc. It is *that* good.
