If Lyricism is the unemcumbered expression of passion--a pure voice--then Andy Guthrie's is an uninhibited reaction to post-modern, urban living. It is no surprise (check out his website) that he lives in New York City: the belly of the EMPIRE. Like many musicians of worth, he seems to be battling to retain a sense of human dignity (and human solidarity)in the face of blatant materialism, of unapologetic imperialism.
