This album is a collection of uplifting originals and poignant Christian hymns accentuated by powerful vocals and slick guitar work. Multi-talented pianist Nick Jaenicke offers up a sound reminiscent of Ray Charles, Dave Grusin, and Oscar Peterson.

notes
"The Malibu EP" is Midwestern singer/songwriter Ryan Ahlwardt's sophomore independent release and features 4 originals and 4 acoustic spins on traditional Christian hymns. Featuring Nick Jaenicke on piano/keyboards and Bloomington, IN producer/engineer Dave Weber at the soundboard, Ahlwardt's follow-up to his 2006 release "I Can See Forever" is already taking contemporary-Christian music lovers on a refreshing musical journey.
Named after the Young Life MALIBU summer camp located in British Columbia, Canada - the camp at which Ahlwardt performed as a special guest artist in Summer 2007- "The Malibu EP" is an expression of two of Ahlwardt's passions: his faith and musical creativity.
Very possibly, "Indiana Summertime" - Ryan's ode to Bloomington, IN, home of his Alma Mater Indiana University - or the way Jaenicke's Ray Charles/Dave Grusin-esque piano stylings accompany Ahlwardt's acoustic guitar work reminiscent of James Taylor will launch this fantastic album on airwaves, road trip rotation, and iPods nation-wide...
