Album Notes

caroline was an original mentor to the indigo girls, who do a duet with her on this album. she also has big fans in bonnie raitt and the allman brothers. susan werner describes her songs as "going places no one else does." a regular on the festival circuit, caroline is like catie curtis and patty larkin in terms of having a beautiful voice and the unique songs that perfectly fit that voice. this is her first studio album and was named by performing songwriter magazine as top ten indy release of the year, highly recommended

This album is timeless with sultry sweet vocals, beatiful harmonies with the Indigo Girls on 'Butler Field', and infectious guitar riffs. This is my favorite Aiken record.

Original mentor to the Indigo Girls (who appear as guest artists on the album), Caroline Aiken's voice of wisdom and been-around-the-block-a-few-more-times-than-you spirit makes for a driving, in-depth album, ranging from reflective folk to bluesy rockers. With her deep, resonant and full-spectrum voice, with the guts of Bonnie Raitt and the light, floating buoyancy of Norah Jones, Aiken's consistencies of conviction, assertion and tangible songwriting make for a notable collector's item.

being an avid indigo girls fan, i decided to take a chance on caroline aiken's, butler field. what a fantastic decision! a brilliant song-writer with a unique voice ... this cd has made it into frequent rotation at my house. if you're a fan of strong, independent women like bonnie raitt, catie curtis, sophie b hawkins, etal, give caroline aiken a try!
