"Assaru U Stekhvar," translating as an "anthology of preludes," is truly a mesmerizing collection, representing all the modes of the Music Andaluse tradition of North Africa, played on the mandol and sung with the penetrating, lulling voice of master singer, Maestro Omar Ait-vimoun, in the language of the Imazighren (the native people of a region stretching from Morocco to Lybia). The tradition of Music Andaluse has been passed on, unbroken, from before the conquest of Spain; this artist is continuing and expanding this craft through his compelling performances on this exquisite album. A must-have, unique album for both world academics and amateurs.
