The songs on "Jasmine in June" (EP) could be said to be self-healing confessionals that express very strong yet sincere emotions. After writing a lot of new material in early 2010 Aiyana felt really strongly about her songs and decided to work with a producer on this second project to gain the experience of collaborating creatively in the studio and to try and take her songs a different direction then her first studio album "Wreaking Honey" (2008). Aiyana met Rob Harkness at Barn Productions in Los Angeles in the Spring of 2010 and the project was started by Fall of 2010. "Jasmine in June" is Aiyana's whole-hearted effort to create something that would stand alone as a very strong artistic expression and also have a wide appeal. Some of the best moments on this project were getting to explore creating a lot of thick harmonies on tracks such as "Jasmine in June" and "February Winter" and also getting to add beautiful string parts to "February WInter" and create droning chordal textures with the harmonium on the title track "Jasmine in June." The piano riffs beautifully float over "Fire and the Snow" and the funky rhythmic grooves of the clavinet and rhodes on "Another Man's Dream" make this recording truly eclectic. "Jasmine in June" continues to show Aiyana's richness in musical taste and depth in her passion for musical expression.
