Shamanic songtress Akasa's musical journey began from an unexpected shamanic sound initiation at the ancient oracle of Delphi in Greece where she experienced a sudden shift: a mysterious sound dimension opened inside of her and altered every aspect of her life. She began to sing from the passion of her soul. Inspired by the rich diversity of the world, she used her voice to paint the images evoked by multi-cultural mythologies, stories and memories from the collective psyche. She sings to purify the sorrow of life’s passages and salute to the courage for embarking this incredible journey.

Akasa sings in the language of her soul: Akashic language. Akashic language goes beyond the linear logic of the left brain and expresses from the intuition and emotions of right brain through the vocalization. Her singing integrates various vocal techniques and musical elements from many parts of the world. She has a wide range of voices with affluent shades of colors and textures touching upon the dimensions of the above and below. Akasa’s performance is an unusual musical experience accompanied with the shamanic ritualistic movements of her hands and body which express the full spectrum of human emotions and spirits of the nature from the depth of longing and grief, to the height of joy and ecstasy.

A native of Taiwan, Akasa has lived in California since 1982. She holds a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Akasa shared her work with international and academic audiences at numerous conferences and symposiums including: The International Conference on Shamanism, Healing and Transformation; The National Association for Humanities Education Conference; Embodiment and Environment Conference, Oxford University, UK; The Future of Interdisciplinary Education Conference, San Francisco State University;; The Society for Shamanic Practitioners Conference; The Closing ceremony for Empowering Women of Color Conference, U.C. Berkeley; Opening ceremony for the New Living Expo; Earthdance International music festival and many other cultural and musical events.

Akasa's musical performance contains the essence of a shamanic ceremony which brings forth the emotional healing and transformation of consciousness. At their core, Akasa's music and performances arise from the synergy of the indigenous cultures, ancient and modern civilizations. Gifted with the power of passion to move the mass energy, she evokes the audiences to feel the core of their universal beings and the beauty and possibility of human potential.
