Album Notes

Chaotic Simplicity, an excitement in a relaxing setting, a fusion of jazz, pop and Brazilian sounds: piano by Ake Kubota, bass by Tetsuya Mashine, drums by Satoshi Ishikawa, and featuring vocals by Alina. The Ake Kubota Trio performs mainly in Tokyo and Yokohama, Japan. A repetitive freshness of urban harmony and beat, a soothing and unique sound flux that grows on you. Chaotic Simplicity is the second album by Ake Kubota, (first album Vermilion released in the USA - Ake meaning vermilion in Japanese), a keyboard player, composer and arranger. Her musical expertise, striking performances and intuitions churned out from boundless freedom of expression are what make up her unique musical interpretation. Alina is an upcoming, natural-born vocalist in the Japanese jazz scene, raised in a family of musicians, with a voice that reflects natural beauty. Tetsuya’s bass sounds are mature, deep and persuasive, a work of an expert jazz artisan. Satoshi’s Brazilian and pop drum and percussion playing is exquisite; he’s a regular member of the world-renown Lisa Ono Band. Sounding simple but with sophistication, sophisticated but with simplicity, Chaotic Simplicity is a phenomenal album which reveals a new creativity and innovative expressive capability of musical artists in Japan.

Fantastic & super smooth! Awsome!

This CD is just great. It opened me up to jazz by Japanese musicians. But it's not just jazz; you hear pop, classical and Brazilian. The vocals sound from the heart, an unpolished gem. The sound mixing is superb as well.
