Album Notes

The AKIL Serious CD is what it says... Serious. It's time the urban community get that. We need to take "Serious" the future of our people. Someone told me to that I need to write about some other topics and this is what I say to that... I can only write about what I know.... I write about real life, relationship issues, and keep'n it real. These times are tough.

I've sacrificed and struggled and hustled hard chasing my musical ambitions. Message to the young people.... You WILL succeed if you keep your eyes on the prize. Hustle hard at what ever your dream is. Be a benefit not a burden to your people. Take a stand. Make a difference. Stand for something. lead by example. Keep it real, one luv -Akil

Akil is a very talented artist, producer, and songwriter. Predictably the one of the best rappers of 2006. His music is best described as 'Street Conscious' Born and raised in the Bay Area, Akil left home at only 13 and has since never returned. He spent years in the streets hustling city to city up and down the west coast surviving. Akil was always very conscious of the black struggle in America.

Akil says his idols were Malcolm X, and The Black Panther Party. Listening to the words in Akil's music, you can hear that is very apparent. His poetry and the fact that he refused to do drugs and alcohol during his early yearsis what kept him focused and out of the grave yard and penitentiary. Akil"s music is about real life struggles and relationships and is delivered with passion, emotion, and real lyrical skill.
