"Black Morning Sun" is the full length debut from female fronted prog-metal band Akribi.
Striking the balance between complexity and solid songwriting, Akribi delivers an album with songs that range from the most complex instrumentals to the most beautiful ballads.

The focus of the album is song-oriented rather than packed with technical extravaganza. With that said, there are a lot of things to discover musically. The five instrumentalists rarely play the same thing; there are time signature changes, odd metres, tempo changes and harmonies.
The music shifts from fast to slow, from raging metal to mellow, nuanced piano and from rhythms recalling heavy Dream Theater to Marillion-esque melodies.
On top of this there are the female vocals. Jessica Åhman shifts between the powerful and the beautiful. No opera and no growling.

If you want an album that will make you discover new details when you listen to it for the tenth time, this is the one for you.
