Album Notes

Akua (ah-kwee-uh) is a poet with a creative spirit that has grown into literary talent. Born in the year of America's Bicentennial, Akua broke the barriers into this world with determination by making her unexpected arrival onto earth, two weeks prior to her due date. From that moment on, she would test her abilities to handle new adventures that would build her willpower and courage.

Akua started writing poetry seven years ago while attending college and has yet to put the pen down. In January of 2004, she won the Resolution Slam in Sedona, AZ and became a member of the 2004 Mesa Arizona Slam Team that competed at the National Poetry Slam Competition in St. Louis, Missouri. She has performed across the country providing her insight on such topics as social and women's issues, love and self-appreciation. Silent Anger is Akua first project and has received a warm reception from her peers and poetry lovers.

Akua has been featured in One Mic Entertainment Magazine November issue and is the 2004 Arizona All-Star Slam champion. Akua plans to start working on her next cd in 2005 as well as work on a book displaying her collection of poetry. Akua's walk into poetry has been extensive and hard but well-worth the experience and she is thankful everyday for having the ability to give her insight to the world through her poetry.
