A Life Among Ghosts is an energetic rock’n roll band from Northern Virginia. The band is well known for its complex and interactive guitar melodies, fantastic bass lines, and warm vocals. The music has many influences, from jazz to funk, classic rock to experiments in global music, all while maintaining a strong foundation in what can only be described as rock. The band has been playing together for over 4 years and its members have played together for much longer in several different projects.
A Life Among Ghosts released their second full-length album, entitled “Nowhere Wolves,” in November 2008 and has received an overwhelming positive response from fans. The band’s first full-length album, “Swallow the Sun,” has also had much success since its release in October 2005.
Jarrod Brown is the lead vocalist as well as one of guitar players.
Jarrod has been best friends with fellow guitarist Josh Schmidt and producer since childhood and have started several successful projects together including Shrapnel Caress and Orion is Dead. Rob Dessimoz has mastered the bass for nearly a decade and brings a bit of funk and blues to the bands sound. In the past few years the band has welcomed two new members. Drummer Mike Davis was a percussion major at George Mason University and has brought about wonderful change and evolution to the band. Andrew Hylton, a close friend and wonderful guitar player, was brought in to collaborate while recording the second album and has become an essential member of the band.
Swallow the Sun was produced by Scott Harlan and A Life Among Ghosts at Golden Sound Studios in Woodbridge, VA, and was mastered by Grammy winning Charlie Pilzer at Airshow Mastering in Springfield, VA.
