ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
For Immediate Release
Alan Barrington’s Sophomore CD, Looking For A Novel, Delivers Not Only A Story, But Also A Soul
Looking For A Novel is the second self-released cd from singer/songwriter Alan Barrington. Barrington’s time has been well spent with four tracks from this album receiving critical praise from the Suwannee SpringFest (Live Oak, FL), Minnesota Folk Festival, & MOVA Arts Festival (Guntersville, AL), Song Door International Songwriting Competition. He also is a regular at the Charlotte Pops Series.

Looking For A Novel is a blend of inspirational songs with lulling melodies “Bluebird Café; cheeky lyrical gems with bluesy swaggers “Kitchen Technician”; and touching, heartfelt pieces with disciplined instrumentation “No Father, No Mother.”
Looking For A Novel was produced by Steven Swinford (consecutive best pedal steel nominee for the Academy of Country Music). Musicians included on the project are Alan Barrington (vocals, & acoustic/electric guitar), Roger Kohrs (bass), Bill Scott (percussion), Tom Eure/Steven Swinford (mandolin, dobro), Steven Swinford (vocals, pedal steel, electric guitar), Stacy Swinford (vocals), David Huberman (accordion).
If you have yet to hear this artist you are missing out. Barrington has the ability to sing a tune and write a song that paints such a specific moment in time, much like the legendary James Taylor. This artist is sure to make his mark as a triple threat- songwriter, singer and storyteller.

Excellent modern acoust/folk CD. Pick up a copy today!
“Looking for a Novel” by masterful story-teller Alan Barrington is a heart-warming collection of bluesy modern folk tunes. One of the most striking elements of “Looking for a Novel” is the fact that its lyrics read like a best-selling novel! Tales of everyday experiences and love-searching are told in the most compelling way possible – poetic passion. What’s more, Alan Barrington’s strong, controlled, and affectionate vocals are perfect for this genre. “Better than a Week in the Country” veers to a country rock sound that is delightfully energetic and hook-ridden – showing off Alan’s diversity. “You Believed in Me” stands out as an emotion-provoking modern folk song that is spiritually enlightening. Moreover, the production of “Looking for a Novel” successfully turns these story-book tales into country hits! Fans of James Taylor and Lyle Lovett will find a new modern folk home in these delightful tunes!

Looking for a Novel
Alan Barrington has the ability to capture moments in time and then paint them on a canvas of notes and chords makes his new CD a great addition to any collection.
Perhaps one of the best crafted songs on an album full of great selections is "Circle of Gold". This outstanding song is filled not only with the imagery Barrington is known for, but also the tenderness and understanding of relationships. This could easily become a standard at weddings as well as a favorite with romantics everywhere.
D and M Music believes fans of folk, easy listening, and pop genres will enjoy Barrington's music.
