Alan Broadbent\'s latest CD brings him back to his long time trio with Putter Smith and Kendall Kay. He decided to go into the studio on a moment\'s notice and record this spontaneous love letter to great jazz standards (and one original). It begins with a relaxed “Flamingo”, explorations of Bird tunes, a waltz version of “Willow Weep For Me” and culminating in a medley of Coltrane’s.

These guys are GREAT!  Alan's playing is so rich and so lucid, swinging, genuinely satisfying.  Putter's about as original as you can get, & likewise rich, clear, swinging and satisfying.  Kendall Kay is a beauty.  He belongs with these guys.  Together they're like some kind of really wholesome Pleasure Organism.  Can you tell I like them?
